Off we go heading to the Kimberley's.

Well this day finally arrived and we are here on the banks of the Murray in South Australia at Cadell. It's a beautiful spot with the stunnng cliffs overlooking the mighty river, graceful Pelicans gliding by and fish jumping out periodically. It's such a balmy evening we are very relaxed enjoying a drink.

It seems like we have been preparing for this trip forever and with all the modifications and gadgets, we hope we've covered all bases and can cope with anything that crops up unexpectedly. (We have every monitor you can imagine!!)  We left home early thismorning and met Dennis and Tops at Swan Hill. We had my Mum on board and we met Heather at Pinaroo to hand her over and she is now settled in at home at Victor Harbor. We will miss her company and she is an amazing lady for her 97 - coming up 98 years.  From Pinnaroo we headed to Lameroo, Berri, Waikerie and then here to Cadell. What a surprise to find this spot with such great amenities, lovely grassed areas by the river with peaceful river views.

We left this lovely spot reluctantly fairly early and went through Morgan onto Burra. We parked there and walked to the Main Street where we purchased a few salad Veges and the boys even bought us a cappuccino - very much appreciated!  Burra is a beautiful historic town with lovely stone buildings. We'd love to spend more time there exploring the historic sites ....... another trip.

The Catholic Church is of course on top of the hill!

This is a monument to the Cornish  miners.

From Burra we decided to visit Crystal Brook where Dennis caught up with an old Ford dealer and we had a cuppa and chat with them. This mid north area is lovely and we are impressed with the picturesque stone ruins - we could have taken many photos like this:

Instead of camping at Melrose where we've been before, we decided to come  to to the Mt Remarkable NP at the Mambray creek campground. It's lovely here too but we are annoyed with the online booking system where you are supposed to pick a site (unseen) and pay for it before you set up. We however drove around to see what suited us then had to drive out to where we had phone service to complete the online booking! They have this stupid system in Queensland too and it suits not one traveller as rarely do you know where you are going to be ahead of time, and then mobile service is not available to do the booking! We love the national parks where you have self registration - so simple!! Anyway, we are set up here and it's very pretty with these lovely gums along the creek bed.

Our trip has begun with lovely warm weather, but this morning we awaken to some light rain and much cooler conditions. Away with the shorts and out with the jeans! We will check to see if the Oodnadatta track is open - gee we hope so otherwise we'll be travelling up the Stuart Highway. Stay tuned for the next report!

We send our love to everyone, Dennis & Tops, Marg & Darryl xxxx.
