Riomaggiore

Here we are in a little paradise! Our little villa overlooks the water and I can see at this minute boats on the water, seagulls circling, rugged cliffs, houses clinging to the rocks and in the distance the last of the 5 little towns along this Cinque Terra coast. Darryl and Greg were quite happy to see a white pointer out on a boat too!  It quite warm and people are swimming - and we left our bathers in Venice as we thought it would be too cold to swim! Might have to look for a pair!! We caught a train here - from Florence to La Spezia then one to here. We went through Pisa but didn't see any leaning tower!  It seems the most common way for tourists to get here as they were pretty crowded!

View out the window. Not bad?? Anne's done it again!!

Inside our little villa:

Back to Florence and yesterday - we had a very cultured day and went to Academia where the best exhibit is of course Michelangelo's David - it was pretty spectacular!

We went back to have our breakfast then set off exploring again and ended up at Bargello museum and then the Uffitzi which is the number 1 tourist attraction where we saw so many beautiful paintings and statues! My favourite exhibit was a headstone for a Roman soldier in BC 33! That's a long time ago!!  We saw so many nudes - you wouldn't want to be prudish about it! The ceilings and art works were unbelievable! This is one of Darryl's favourites -the birth of Venus!

We had planned to dine out in style on our last night in Florence but ended up in the Irish bar opposite our apartment, having too many drinks and eating a hamburger!! The kind barman even gave the boys a hat  - not the sort we thought though!

We are here in Riomaggiore for 3 nights and have lots we can do though I don't know if we will be going on long trecks as it's too warm and there's the little foot problem - (which is improving though!)

Our internet here isn't all that reliable so hope we can keep up the blogs! Love to you all again

Xxxxxxxxxx

Ps we are pleased that Josh is home and hopefully feeling better - we even Face Timed him yesterday so aren't we getting techno savvy??
