Eungella National Park.

Eureka!! Everyone was correct and we did see platypus in the Broken River - and it made us very happy.

We also saw these little turtles which are much more common. We were fascinated by the bobbing up and down these little guys do and could watch them for ages! We just loved this National park and we were  so fortunate that we visited on  clear & sunny day. We enjoyed morning coffee with an amazing view at the Chalet, but couldn’t quite see Mackay.
The walks were just lovely and with the sun peeping through the foliage, it was magical!

The road up was steep and windy and it’s surprising people do tow their vans up here! We were very happy that our vans were safe down in the valley. We toured the Crediton loop to see farm land in between forests and once again had wonderful views. It’s certainly a beautiful area and has renewed our love of rainforests - so we hope to see more as we continue our travels.
Today we visited the Pinnacle lookout and the Teemburra dam before catching up with friends at the Pinnacle Pub. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw how many people were there and with live music you’d think you were in a city pub - not one in the middle of nowhere. They are famous for their pies which looked enormous - at the end of our stay we wanted to purchase some cold pies to use at a later date, but they were all sold out!

Back at our campsite, we enjoyed the ambiance of the creek, the chooks and dogs - but not sure about the turkey!!
Our plans are yet to be decided - maybe Mackay, maybe Airlie Beach - maybe further. The weather has been perfect - warm & sunny days and cool nights excellent for our campfire and for sleeping. Sorry to rub that in for all of you freezing down south. So from our lovely spot here, we send our love. ❌❌❌❌
