Lawn Hill National Park

We were so lucky to be at this beautiful spot and we enjoyed our time there very much. We actually camped at Adels Grove which is a beautiful area alongside the Lawn Creek.

The facilities were great with a lovely big reception area and bar where meals are available. We were also able to receive some Telstra coverage there  and I was able to post a blog and catch up with calls and messages. Tops & I were also very fortunate to enjoy the ambience of the dining area on Mother’s Day, enjoying a delicious Caesar Salad and complimentary champagne - that’s two days of being spoilt but we’ve been told it’s back to basics now!!

The National Park is 10km away and we visited there to appreciate the magnificence of the gorge and the surrounding area. We went on a solar boat cruise up the gorge which was lovely, the scenery beautiful and the commentary  quite informative.

We did a walk along the ridge of the gorge which gave lovely views of the whole valley - then we made an impromptu decision to go canoeing up the gorge as everyone we met said it was great. Well, it certainly was, and with Dennis as the engine at the back of our 3 berth canoe, Darryl as cox and me as Queen of Sheba in the middle we went right through to the top gorge which was awesome. So quiet, so peaceful, so beautiful - and for me so easy!! The only down side was we have no record of the whole afternoon as we didn’t take our cameras or phones thinking they could get wet but in reality the chap gave us a container for the car keys and could have used that. We swam under a waterfall and rested a bit before heading back for late lunch and another swim.

Now we are camped at Gregory (great place Greg Taylor!) along side the Gregory river and it’s lovely too. We’ve given the car a bit of a clean and are enjoying the ambience of the place. Next we head to Karumba where another adventure awaits us!! We trust all readers are happy and well.
