Touring the wheatbelt

From Esperance we stayed in this cute spot called Chicken Ranch in a little town Varkey - about the size of Murrabit.

The locals provide this spot free (tho they have a donation box) and the facilities were spotless. We loved their quirky sense of humour with a Rabbit cemetery remembering all the rabbits that died because of the rabbit proof fence!

We strolled around the town and climbed the rock which has their water supply and all posed for a group photo:

From here it was only a short drive to Wave Rock. Gee it's amazing and we enjoyed walking around - and on top of it.

The early settlers constructed a wall around the top to allow for catchment of water and it's still used as a water supply for the town of Hyden. We saw a similar scheme at Karalee Rocks on our last trip.

The rain event WA had in February us still evident and you can see water in the background. The area has many salt lakes and granite outcrops.

We love the very clever bush art in the towns of Hyden, Kondinin and Kulin and drove half way along Tin Horse road where if you wanted to see and photograph every item, it would take all day!!
How's this golfer:

I could pop in many more of our favourites - I have a long list of requests for Darryl to make 😁

We are now in a great spot - Mt Trio Bush camp - which is situated on the edge of the Stirling Ranges National Park. It's a huge camp and at the moment are about the only ones here.

We did a tour through the Ranges and enjoyed the views but we all think the Grampians are probably more spectacular. We had afternoon tea in a great camp spot in the park - would be perfect if campfires were possible. Tonight we are sitting around the group campfire but seeing it's just one other van here,it's like having our own fire. We will pack up in the morning and hit Albany where we'll spend a few days looking around. We've not got enough phone service here to post this so I will as soon as we get into range tomorrow. We trust everyone is well and your weather is still sunny 😊🌞.
Love from Dennis, Tops, Marg & Darryl xxxxxxxxx
